Job Summary and Mission

This position contributes to success of the Roastery & Reserve Store through demonstrating a passion for service to our customers by thoughtfully curating an authentic Italian food experience. Commessa’s are brand ambassadors for food curiosity and stewards of quality that provide friendly and engaging connections, within a fast-paced environment. The incumbent is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Food Expert & Brand Ambassador:
Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Starbucks.

Provide unique Princi food service experience for every customer

Serve as in-store food expert providing exceptional knowledge of food and beverages as well as information on quality of ingredients and how our products are made

Demonstrate impeccable composure and ability to thrive in ambiguous situations. Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events

Consistently adheres to all recipe and presentation standards

Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products

Contributes to positive team environment

Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality

Service:
Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues

Delivers exceptional customer service to all customers leading with customer connection and seeking to discover and respond to customer needs

Supports execution of Roastery and Reserve special events as needed

Sales:
Maintain knowledge of a wide variety of rotating food and beverage items

Engage customers and leverage selling skills through recommendations, suggested food and beverage pairings

Maintain knowledge of Princi retail merchandise

Operations:
Follows Starbucks operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security.

Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that partners can locate resources and product as needed

Ensures item availability by assisting in production planning

Prepares, finishes and assembles food items

Utilizes necessary kitchen equipment to prepare food

Supports inventory management, receiving and storage of food deliveries

Stocks food display case and all supplies and wares needed for service

Maintains the food case to create an abundant and full display throughout the day

Basic Qualifications

Experience in the culinary or service industry (i.e. kitchen, restaurant, bar, or hospitality)

Reading, writing, and verbal proficiency in the English language

Ability to bend, twist, squat, reach, crawl, push/pull, climb stairs, and stand for long periods of time

Ability to carry 35lb on a consistent basis

Available to work flexible hours, which could include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and

Preferred Qualifications

Baking or Culinary Certification/Degree

Health code certification

Additional languages beneficial

High attention to detail, strong work ethic, ability to multitask and prioritize

Ability to learn quickly

Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions and request clarification when needed

Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work as part of a team, building positive working relationships with other team members

Basic culinary knife skills
