The Red Hat Public Sector Consulting team is looking for a Container Consultant to join us. In this role, you will guide the adoption of Red Hat's solutions with customers. Through a series of both in-person and remote interactions, you'll earn the trust and confidence of customer engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of Red Hat's solutions. You'll play a key part in bringing together cross-functionally Red Hat's product, engineering, support, sales, and services teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. You'll serve as a customer advocate within these teams, aiming to deliver the right solutions and ensuring that these solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. As a Container Consultant, you'll need to have a thorough working knowledge and practical experience with cloud architectures, their supporting infrastructures, including Linux, containers, and virtualization, and scripting languages like Python, Ruby, and Puppet. You'll also need to be familiar with DevOps models and technologies and have a knowledge of either cloud networking technologies like software-defined networking (SDN) or object and block storage disciplines. While you will be working remotely, this role will also require a week-over-week, Monday through Thursday travel. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities
Implement enterprise solutions based on Red Hat OpenShift, integrating with Red Hat OpenStack Platform and similar Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) technologies as well as application development tools and software life cycle processes
Create next-generation application platform automation solutions based around containers and container orchestration, using technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Atomic, Docker, and Kubernetes
Collaborate with project and customer team members to meet timelines and goals
Contribute to project documentation and diagrams, including quality assurance (QA) and ticket and bug management
Mentor and transfer knowledge to customers
Work with senior staff to increase adoption of automation techniques and DevOps processes to improve software delivery, including business-IT alignment, infrastructure and application uptime and availability, and time to market
Design and advocate solutions using cloud technologies, design principles, integration points, and automation methods
Standardize open source Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and DevOps solutions delivery in services playbooks and offerings
Guide presales conversations, discovery sessions, and solutions development around DevOps and application platform automation
Technology experience in consulting, engineering, or application development
Experience with Linux, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or a derivative
Platform scripting skills using Bash, Ruby, or Python
Knowledge of and experience with Docker, Kubernetes, DevOps, and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipeline
