Part-time at-will employee.New Spring Special Education Services is seeking an Ohio certified Intervention Specialist(Special Education Teacher)to provide educational and/or behavioral support for children with disabilities. Clients are seen in the office or in home(and occasionally other locations), so some local travel to client locations will most likely be required.
New Spring Special Education Services, LLC is a local provider of educational and behavioral intervention services for individuals with disabilities including, but not limited to, those with Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome, physical disabilities, multiple disabilities, Autism, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges.
Disclaimer: This is a unique position that requires a passion for teaching and helping individuals with different learning abilities.Because of the funding sources for clients, sessions can only be billed when services are provided. If a client cancels, that session cannot be compensated, unless the session is made up at another time. Some clients may have health concerns and may not be able to attend for multiple sessions. This is ideal for someone looking for a secondary income, but who also has a good amount of flexibility and availability in their schedule.
Some travel is involved as some client services are provided in home. Mileage should be tracked to report on taxes, but mileage reimbursement is not provided, except for certain virtual school contracts.
Requirements: Candidate must hold a current Intervention Specialist teaching license with the Ohio Department of Education. The license must be kept current through time of employment. A clean background check is necessary at start of employment and must be renewed every 3 years.Classroom and/or private provider experience is a must. Experience working with individuals with varying disabilities is a must.
Candidate needs to understand and have a passion for working with kids with disabilities and their families. Candidate must be patient and kind, but assertive enough to provide effective intervention.
The ideal candidate will utilize best practices in the field of special education and have experience using research-based programs/strategies both academically and behaviorally. The candidate must be able to determine areas of need and employ effective interventions to strengthen and improve these areas. Experience working with individuals with dyslexia would be a huge asset, but is not necessary.The intervention specialist will be working with children with a wide range of abilities across a variety of subject areas.
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and take on a number of clients with the expectation of additional clients as time goes on and as the business grows. As of right now, Tuesdays and Thursdays would be the heaviest scheduled days, but additional hours on other days may also be needed. Fridays are also open for scheduling client appointments. We need someone who can work during the days as well as after school hours.

Compensation: Compensation is commensurate with experience. It is hourly,including time met with clients and report writing if necessary (limited to one hour per report, or otherwise pre-approved time). Travel time is not included in compensation.
