Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is an integrated health system delivering exceptional care to residents of Riverside County, through a network of skilled healthcare professionals. RUHS includes the 439-bed Medical Center in Moreno Valley accredited by the Joint Commission, 10 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), specialty clinics, and the departments of Behavioral and Public Health. RUHS is a teaching organization that provides training for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, and is affiliated with Loma Linda University, University of California System and Western University of Health Sciences. RUHS employs about 6,000 team members.

The RUHS-Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center and provides high quality adult and pediatric acute care, emergency and trauma medical care, and specialized health services that include the Stroke Center and chronic disease management.

Under direction, to participate in the planning and implementation of an in-service training program in nursing for the Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Adult Critical Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit; and to do other related work as required.

The Nursing Education Instructor - Specialty Care -T1 class is specifically assigned within the following units: Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU), Emergency Department/Trauma Services, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Labor and Delivery, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit (PACU), and the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).

Assignment as a Nursing Education Instructor - Specialty Care -T1 is governed by Article 4, Section 3(E)(1) and Article 28, Section 1(A) of the current SEIU Terms and Conditions of Employment (TCE). Failure to sustain the necessary requirements will result in the employee's inability to continue working and disciplinary action shall be instituted in accordance with Article 11 of the TCE.

Instruct organized in-service nursing courses to professional, para-professional, and volunteer nursing personnel.

Participate in planning curriculum, teaching schedule, and course outline; participate in evaluation and revision of instruction and nursing practices.

Research state-of-the-art nursing practices and instruction methods.

Conduct orientation programs for new nursing personnel; perform direct nursing care services as needed in response to emergency situations.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Two years performing the duties of a registered nurse in an acute hospital setting. A California Standard Designated Subject Credential in Registered Nursing may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

BLS and ACLS required

Knowledge of: The scope and method of modern nursing and nursing education; staff training and instruction methods; communicable and other diseases, medical terminology, hospital practices, and drug use abuse; legal aspects of nursing profession regulations.

Ability to: Effect in-service training programs; instruct, motivate, and develop professional capacities of nursing personnel; speak and write effectively.
