Monsanto's North America Row Crops organization is seeking a highly motivated Production Lead to join our Pre-Commercial team in Manito, IL. This site is approximately 65 miles north of Springfield, IL and 30 miles southwest of Peoria, IL. The Production Lead reports to the Regional Site Lead and will lead the Manito team supporting field and/or plant operations. The Production Lead has leadership responsibility for the Seed Technicians and is expected to get results through high personal proficiency, delegation of tasks, coordinating the work of others, developing/coaching others, developing the team and collaborating regionally to innovate and improve processes.

The Production Lead will maintain a strong relationship with Crop Leadership, the QMS/Compliance Lead, ESH Specialist, Field Solutions Manager, Production Research, neighboring Commercial Corn, Pre-Commercial Soy and Commercial Soy Leaders and other site support personnel to direct operations at the site and resolve production challenges. The successful candidate will need to be able to adapt quickly to changes in our business, courageously face new challenges and opportunities and leverage the talents, skills and resources of team members and peers.

Manages direct reports through motivation, recognition, leadership, and employee development and administration

Provides overall direction to the site and/or field operations and implements site strategy in collaboration with the Site Lead and Site Leadership Team

Supports and helps track financial management activities such as budgeting, cost management, capital management, expense reporting, payroll tracking and DOA control

Drives operational improvements, metrics tracking and implementation of best practices through team members and along with peers

Represents and contribute to the site’s involvement to cultivate trust in the community

Accountable for adherence of team to governmental rules and regulations as well as Monsanto ESH initiatives and objectives to ensure worker safety

Supports implementation and improvement of QMS systems deliver the quality products that meet/exceed stakeholder and customer quality expectations


Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree

6+ years experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, engineering, technical environment, or related area

Demonstrated ability to lead people managers and their teams

Results oriented leadership approach

Capability to clearly present information and influence or persuade others through oral or written communications

Ability to make decisions and solve problems while exhibiting situational judgment

Desired Skills/Experience:
Experience with agriculture, seed manufacturing

Experience in working and/or leading in a matrix environment

Computer proficiencies to include SAP

Knowledge of process improvement principles such as Lean, Six Sigma
