Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated dual certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive mental health and primary care to patients within our practice. Our practice heavily services local Substance Use and Mental Health Rehabilitation Facilities where patients are focused on their physical and mental health. We are seeking a provider who is qualified and comfortable with treating both mental and physical wellness.
Duties
1. **Patient Assessment:** Conduct virtual consultations to evaluate both physical and mental health conditions, including gathering comprehensive medical and psychiatric history, symptoms, and lifestyle factors.
2. **Mental Health Evaluations:** Perform detailed psychiatric assessments, including evaluating mood, cognition, behavior, and psychosocial factors. Use standardized tools and interviews to assess mental health conditions.
3. **Diagnosis:** Make clinical diagnoses for physical and mental health conditions based on assessments, including interpreting symptoms and reviewing any available diagnostic results.
4. **Treatment Planning:** Develop and recommend treatment plans for both physical and mental health issues. This may include prescribing medications, psychotherapy, or other interventions, and coordinating with other mental health professionals if needed.
5. **Medication Management:** Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitor their effectiveness, and adjust dosages as necessary. Provide education about medication adherence and potential side effects.
6. **Psychotherapy:** Offer counseling and psychotherapy services, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or supportive therapy, through telehealth platforms.
7. **Patient Education:** Provide information and guidance on mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies. Educate patients about coping mechanisms and stress management techniques.
8. **Crisis Intervention:** Recognize and manage psychiatric emergencies or crises, providing immediate support and directing patients to appropriate resources or emergency services if needed.
9. **Follow-Up Care:** Monitor patients’ progress through follow-up appointments, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary based on their responses and any new information.
10. **Documentation:** Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHRs) for all patient interactions, treatments, and outcomes, including mental health evaluations and interventions.
11. **Coordination of Care:** Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including primary care physicians, mental health specialists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive and integrated patient care.
12. **Health Promotion:** Offer guidance on preventive health measures, including mental health maintenance and strategies to improve overall well-being.
13. **Technical Proficiency:** Use telehealth platforms effectively, ensuring a secure and confidential environment for patient interactions, especially for sensitive mental health discussions.
14. **Compliance and Regulations:** Stay updated on telehealth and mental health regulations to ensure all practices comply with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
15. **Patient Support:** Address patients’ concerns and answer questions about their physical and mental health conditions, treatments, and telehealth processes.
16. **Continuing Education:** Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with medical and mental health advancements, as well as telehealth best practices.
These duties help ensure that patients receive comprehensive care addressing both their physical and mental health needs, even through remote interactions.
Skills
- Experience in psychiatric care for patients in assisted living facilities
- Knowledge of pediatric mental health care
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Familiarity with utilization management practices
- Understanding of ophthalmology-related mental health issues
- Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
- Competency in medication administration and management systems
Certifications:
- Current FNP licensure in Arizona
- Current PMHNP licensure in Arizona
- Registered DEA in Arizona
- First Aid & CPR or BLS certification

Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
