Database Administrator

The Database Administrator is responsible for design, installation, monitoring, maintaining, and performance tuning for production databases, ensuring high levels of data availability. Using planning, analytical, and communication skills, the Database Administrator is also responsible for working on the integration of various production systems, troubleshooting data issues, and loading various external data sources. Keeps current on application development technology trends, applying modern tools and techniques to improve existing solutions, as well as new initiatives.

Administer all Microsoft SQL Server databases including installation, database design and implementation, security, backups, replication, etc.
Use Transactional Replication, Clustering, and AlwaysOn to maintain reporting and highly available databases.
Monitor database performance and activities using Database Performance monitoring tools and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools
Ensuring implementation of proper security protocols to protect sensitive information.
Work with application developers to design SQL objects and optimized stored procedures.
Provide mentoring and coaching to team.
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
Strong understanding of Transact-SQL (T-SQL) programming, including set based queries and logical operators
Strong understanding of SQL Server internal processes, including server level and database level security
Experience with SQL Server Integration Services for exchanges with various Collette databases and partners
Experience monitoring all scheduled jobs, including full, differential, and log backup jobs
Proficiency with developing efficient queries, as well as isolating and optimizing poor performing queries
Understanding fundamental design principles behind building scalable databases
Familiarity with data hygiene concepts. Experience with SAS Dataflux or Experian data services a plus
Familiarity with database monitoring tools. Experience with Solarwinds Ignite a plus
Familiarity with data warehousing and analytical tools. Experience with SSAS a plus
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong technical documentation skills

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years experience required.
