Subject to administrative approval, serves as administrative assistant for the Bureau Chief, Bureau of Blind Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), DHS. Performs highly independent responsible duties relevant to the daily administration and operation for the Bureau and its regions and units. Coordinates daily operations of the Bureau and mail control. Develops and implements Bureau procedures and polices to increase effectiveness of operations, work flow, response time etc. Serves as Bureau liaison to Agency and Division staff/units. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties.
Minimum Requirements: Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college, preferably with courses in public or business administration. Requires two years professional experience in a public or private organization. Requires working knowledge of Division's objectives, policies and procedures; requires knowledge of Division's rehabilitation service delivery for persons with disabilities and personnel structure; requires developed oral and written communication skills; requires working experience with Excel spreadsheets; prefers ability to conduct research; prefers working knowledge of federal and state requirements related to rehabilitation programming including the Rehabilitation Act and amendments, the Social Security Act, the Americans with Disability Act, Workforce Incentives Opportunities Act etc. Requires the ability to travel.
