Job Responsibilities
This position is located within the Pickens Guardian Ad Litem Office of the SC Department of Administration. Under general supervision, the incumbent will provide support, guidance and programmatic supervision to volunteers assigned to advocate in Family Court through the South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program. The incumbent will support office functions necessary for effective volunteer advocacy and assist with recruiting and training new volunteers, inputting program information in database for tracking county statistical information and assigning volunteers to child abuse/neglect cases. The incumbent will also provide assistance to the volunteers with case management and court preparation, while assisting with planning and facilitating continuing education of volunteers. In those instances in which there is not an adequate pool of volunteers to appoint as Guardian ad Litem to a case, incumbent will serve as the appointed Guardian ad Litem. Performs other duties as required. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview. Minimum and Additional Requirements
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and relevant program, volunteer management or child welfare experience.

Additional Requirements: Must have knowledge of applicable laws and procedures pertaining to child welfare. Must be able to establish and maintain productive and effective working relationships with volunteers, co-workers and the public. Must attend state staff meetings and staff development training. May require work on evenings and/or weekends. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license. Overnight travel may be required. Extensive and/or routine driver duties is required. Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending. May require lifting up to 25 pounds.
