Organizes and coordinates patent-related activities including coordinating and monitoring patent filings and prosecution, data base management, federal reporting and communication outside patent counsel.
Handles day-to-day intellectual property communications and documents. Maintains database and internal records for patent filings and prosecution.
Coordinates inventor signatures on patent documents and licensee input. Communicates prosecution decisions to outside patent counsel.
Utilizes database management, including entry of information on all patent activities in database; manage annuity decisions and payments.
Performs Federal grant compliance reporting.
Interfaces with inventors and outside patent counsel and USPTO as appropriate (assignments, declarations, forms, etc.).
Analyzes IP data and provides reports to management and outside parties as necessitated.
Works closely with Innovation Managers regarding patent-related activities including coordinating and monitoring patent filings and prosecution.
Communicates prosecution decisions to outside patent counsel.
Other duties as assigned.
A Paralegal Certificate or experience in Patent and Intellectual Property areas may offset degree requirement.
Complexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking skills, attention to detail, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
5 years experience in IP management, commercialization or relevant field.
Experience in Federal Grant reporting a plus.
Requires extensive sitting and dexterity to perform work on a PC.
Typical physical demands include ability to sit, stand or walk extensively.
