The Wyneken Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida Atlantic University seeks a driven Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Florida Atlantic University Marine Laboratory at Boca Raton . The Wyneken lab studies the relationships of environmental conditions to marine turtle development, structure, ecology and behavior. The lab uses field and experimental approaches to better understand current affects and predict future outcomes of environmental shifts on marine turtles. The postdoctoral associate will join two Ph.D, two Masters, and 7-12 undergraduate research students.
We are targeting candidates who bring diverse biological and quantitative skills to the lab along and interests in student mentorship/supervision and effective communication of science. Opportunities to gain teaching experience in morphology can be made available. We particularly would like to maximize the value of long-term data from Florida sea turtle nests, hatchlings and their growth. The lab thrives on collegiality and the development of novel understanding of biology that aids current and future species recovery. We seek a team member who is enthusiastic about science, publication, refining their mentorship and supervisory skills, and contributing to our public outreach.
This position, funded through the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation is part of a larger initiative that emphasizes training the next generation of marine biologists in scientific research and effective communication of science to broad audiences. The appointment is for one year with possibility of additional years of funding upon successfully completion of year one.
PhD in Biology or closely related field from an accredited institution with emphases in development, morphology, ecology, marine science, biostatistics, or a related field and field-appropriate experience are required at time of application.
The candidate must be self-motivated, and a strong work ethic.
Able to work both independently and in a collaborative group environments.
Strong interests in mentoring students and public outreach are essential.
Experience with turtles or other reptiles is a plus but not essential.

Prior to appointment, the candidate must submit official, sealed transcripts from all institutions where graduate coursework was attempted, whether or not a degree was obtained, as well as an original NACES evaluation, if applicable. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University not to you as the student.
