Summary of Position:
As an Environmental Specialist, you will provide leadership, direction, and expertise for all environmental-related matters within the organization. Ensure compliance with EPA, DOT, state, and local agency regulations and implement best practices to continuously improve operations. Provide guidance and support to management and plant personnel regarding environmental compliance testing, environmental reporting, and waste minimization.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, lead, coach and mentor Environmental team

Manage routine and non-routine compliance test sampling events at manufacturing facilities

Manage systems to ensure environmental procedures and systems are maintained to meet regulatory requirement

Responsible for interpretation of and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements relating to environmental issues as well as interfacing with same during inspections and investigations

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and participate in waste minimization efforts at all facilities with the goal of zero waste to landfill
- Participate in the full implementation of Knauf Insulation Integrated Management System (KIMS) at all U.S. facilities

Generate and publish timely reports, as required
- Provide environmental and sustainability guidance, coaching & instruction to all levels of management and employees to improve performance and to resolve issues

Assist in environmental investigations, causation analysis and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence, as well as capacity to learn and work with potential H&S investigations and corrective actions as needed

Promote health, safety, environment, sustainability, and well-being at all opportunities

Maintain Knauf’ s compliance with Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) records by initiating the review process for all new chemicals coming into plants; arrange data entry and audit systems to maintain records

Audit all Health, Environmental, and Safety programs to ensure compliance with company and government standards (KIMS compliant)
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental / Health and Safety or related field preferred

Environmental / Safety Professional Certification preferred
Experience:
-
Minimum five (5) years of experience working with environmental regulatory issues in a manufacturing facility

Minimum five (5) years of experience in an industrial manufacturing facility
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-
Knowledge of hazard communication and waste management regulations.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and permits
-
Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time
