WEG has an excellent opportunity available in Duluth, GA for an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager. This is a senior level role where you will oversee EHS activities for a 350 person facility, as well as have EHS oversight for several manufacturing operations in the U.S. (approx. 1,500 total workforce) This role is responsible for compliance of environmental, safety, and governmental regulations by identifying and analyzing problems, finalizing suggestions and ensuring continuous improvement of the safety programs. Safety and management resources are available at each of our entities to support compliance efforts.
Develops EHS programs that can be implemented at the location level to ensure Company remains compliant with Local, State and Federal regulations
Participate in the selection and onboarding of location EH&S Managers/Specialists to ensure implementation of programs throughout all locations
Create, maintain and update the EHS resources and materials to support all locations
Develop and sustain a program of accountability for all levels of the organization
Maintains awareness of environmental regulations and policies, to ensure the organization's environmental management policies remain current and relevant
Establish, review and make appropriate adjustments to the operational policies and procedures for locations to enhance environmental health and safety
Ensures that environmental health and safety inspection audits are completed at all locations
Investigates and establishes standards for protective equipment
Establish health and safety training programs for all levels of operation, including New Hire Orientation, Forklift, First Aid/CPR, AED, Fall Protection, Emergency Planning, etc..
May assist with management of workers compensation claims and return to work roles within the organization
Lead investigations for incidents, accidents and near misses then ensure solutions are communicated to departments that may be impacted
Leads safety committee meetings
Records progress made on safety improvements
Compiles and submits reports required by company management, regulatory agencies and insurance companies
Evaluates and reports on corporate risk in the EHS area
Develops data driven problem solving models to identify key improvement actions
Ensures that the appropriate environmental tests are conducted on site; analyzes and evaluates results, recommends corrective action, and ensures the organization complies with federal and state regulations
Maintains all written safety programs and training records, to ensure achievement of facility safety metrics and regulatory compliance
OSHA 301/300 recordkeeping requirements
Ensure compliance with chemical hazard information. SDS (Safety Data Sheet) and Global Harmonization System (GHS) compliance.
Presents and communicates to all levels of the organization, and maintains confidentiality
Responds to customer safety requests for safety data on the organization
Manages outside EHS service providers
Most qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree and at least six plus years of EHS experience.
Working knowledge of Federal, State and Local EHS Regulations
Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
Knowledge of claims management process for Workers Compensation
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Familiarity with ISO management system principles
Ability to travel up to 25%+
Prior experience writing and implementing safety policies and procedures
Manufacturing process knowledge and exposure to Lean Mfg, Kaizen and Six Sigma.
Experience with OSHA Job Site Safety Practices
EHS Certifications preferred (CSP, EHS, OSHA)
Capability to build partnerships, work collaboratively
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
