The Brand & Menu Strategy Team has been the driving force behind recent growth in the business, including the only-at-McDonald’s Worldwide Favorites menu promotion, the competitive transformation of our signature QPC burger line, and the successful launch of McDelivery. Director, Brand & Menu Strategy Job Description
We are looking for intellectually curious problem-solvers that have a passion for marketing, innovation and creating distinctive customer experiences. As part of the U.S. Brand & Menu Strategy, you will help create the future at McDonald’s.
Using trends and consumer research, you will contribute to setting short-term and executing long-term for your category or business vertical. You will be accountable for generating new ideas and launching those ideas by leading cross functional teams, comprised of consumer insights, operations, culinary, finance and supply chain colleagues. Your responsibilities will include product, promotion and platform development; positioning and communication development; and commercialization of new menu items. You will also be a key contact, interfacing with our owner/operator partners to bring the products and communication to life in the restaurants. You’ll contribute to developing and execute plans to deliver on annual financial goals, while managing the everyday needs of the business.

Key Components of the Role
Sets the 3-year integrated strategy for critical business/brand priorities by building product or business vertical strategies, developing initiative roadmaps and creating relevant marketing plans
Develops innovative approaches to meet or exceed 3-year growth and OI targets through multiple short-term planning horizons, including responsibility for testing new products, events and initiatives to deliver against strategic objectives and roadmaps.
Responsible for initiative business case development, performance management and learning insights.
Ensures creation of differentiated product concepts and positioning, then collaborates with broader Marketing team on superior go-to-market plans and execution.
Reporting responsibility for 2-3 Brand & Menu Strategy Managers and/or Supervisors, with accountability for direct report professional development and delivery of performance goals.
Collaborates with Culinary, Consumer Insights, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance and Suppliers to turn new products into reality.
Drives clear alignment across Marketing and Cross-Functional teams, along with engagement with Owner-Operators.
Travels up to 30% of time for market visits (sporadic, not continuous)
Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred
8+ years minimum marketing background required, with experience in brand or category management. Food marketing, new business or new product creation experience preferred. CPG, restaurant or retail brand experience preferred. Digital acumen preferred.
Deep knowledge of marketing strategy, initiative development and business case development.
Data-driven decision making experience, with ability to synthesize data and form logical conclusions
Skills: innovative problem solving; demonstrated leadership and people management experience; cross-functional collaboration; comfort working on ambiguous opportunities.
