Washington DC-based Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) seeks a marketing and media relations professional committed to advancing the values of our employee benefit research mission. This position will work directly with the CEO, researchers and staff who focus providing fact-based, unbiased employee benefit research to our members and the general public. The Marketing and Media Relations Specialist will work collaboratively on strategic communications and marketing to build awareness and affinity for EBRI.
The Marketing and Media Relations Specialist will work with staff to develop marketing strategy and materials for members and prospective members, and build relationships with the media, as well as a presence on Social Media.
The Marketing and Media Relations Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing digital marketing channels that promote EBRI. This role is critical in enhancing brand awareness within the digital space as well as driving website traffic. The Marketing and Media Relations Specialist also identifies and evaluates new digital technologies and utilizes in-house resources as well as external resources to ensure that all EBRI messages are maximized externally.
The Marketing and Media Relations Specialist is involved in all digital marketing efforts from developing media strategies that put EBRI’s brand in front of our target audience to sending emails and editing website pages.
The Marketing and Media Relations Specialist coordinates media efforts to members and to the public, including both traditional and social media channels. This person also possesses deep knowledge of the strategic priorities and key messages of EBRI in order to build strong, proactive media relations plans in support of EBRI’s priorities.
Minimum of 3 (three) years of professional experience in marketing, PR, and social media.
1. Messaging strategy: Ability to understand EBRI goals and objectives, select appropriate
messages, develop and execute campaigns and interpret results.
2. Skill in writing, editing and content revision is essential. Ability to remain current with social
media trends and changes in technology is also essential.
3. Media relations background.
4. Proficiency with social media and outreach.
5. Influence and communication skills: Skill in working collaboratively with leadership and staff on
a regular basis.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to present ideas clearly and
concisely and create enthusiasm among stakeholders.
7. Comfort interacting with external stakeholders and internal staff alike.
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field preferred
An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
