Service Manager (Diesel Mechanic Supervisor)
Main Position Responsibilities:
Manages flow of rental construction equipment through a busy shop
Assigns jobs to technicians (mechanics) for routine maintenance, major repairs, etc.
Receives service calls from the field; efficiently and accurately dispatches field service trucks
Orders parts and shop supplies from various vendors and ensures inventory accuracy
Manages parts and supplies purchase orders and vendor invoices
Manages work orders from beginning to end
Subcontracts outside repairs of rental equipment
Manages equipment damage and promptly resolves quote, invoice, and repairs process
Performs equipment warranty repairs and submission of detailed warranty claims information
Assigns service personnel scheduling; manages payroll and overtime requirements
Manages branch safety program and enforces safety rules and regulations
Frequently communicates important messages to staff and customers
Maintains critical relationships with coworkers and customers to ensure customer service is a top priority
Shows frequent leadership ability and discretion
Required Education, Experience & Qualifications:
5+ years of experience working as diesel equipment and/or heavy equipment technician preferred
Experience leading teams in a shop environment preferred
Trade school or technical training desirable
Ability to diagnose and repair complex equipment problems
Ability to quickly and accurately identify, address, and resolve shop and customer needs
Must be physically able to work in a jobsite environment for extensive periods to include lifting up to 50lbs, bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching
Must be physically able to work in extreme conditions on job sites
Computer ability required (email, PO and inventory maintenance, scheduling and follow-up, etc.)
