General Purpose of the Job:
The Network Engineer position is an entry-level position for personnel with little professional IT background. This individual will focus on documentation, maintenance, basic troubleshooting and following operational procedures. The candidate must display an aptitude for IT and have a desire to grow professionally within the systems and network realm of IT.

Although this position is more ‘entry level’ the position will require the demonstration of the potential to grow into a more senior role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Creates and maintains inventories and diagrams.
Installs/Maintains/Monitors network and computer systems.
Conducts basic troubleshooting.
Follows procedures and record keeping requirements.
Displays an aptitude for new technologies and the motivation / ability to master them.
Clearly demonstrates an eagerness to learn and contribute to the team.
Adheres to regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Required:
Associate’s Degree (AA) or Bachelor’s Degree (BA) or three to five years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in related field.
Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportion, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills - Database Software, Design Software, Order Processing Systems, Project Management Software, Spreadsheet Software, Word Processing Software
Additional Skills and Requirements –
- 1 year experience
- Must be competent in routing and switching
- Proof of higher level reasoning skills, critical thinking, and mental acuity will be required as determined by a standardized employment test.
