AHG is currently seeking a Controller to join the growing Finance Department. As the Controller, you will oversee fiscal procedures, processes, and reporting duties for the company including: general ledger entries, account reconciliations, regulatory and financial reporting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures, in compliance with GAAP. This role will also lead the Accounting team, which includes General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Billing, Commission Accounting and Payroll.

This could be the job for you if you have:
Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems
Current knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including ASC 606
Experience creating financial statements
Advance MS Office experience, specifically Excel (including, but not limited to: macros, advanced pivot tables, V-Look-up’s, connecting to external data sources, advanced formula writing and auditing)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership ability, team management and interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus exceptional organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to cope with and manage change, maintain relationships with emotional maturity and self-motivation
Experience with external auditors / audit processes

Here’s what you’ll do every day:
Prepare financial reports and analysis, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to business partners, and reports for government regulatory agencies
Responsibility for all month-end closing activities including accruals, revenue and cost recognition, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations
Provide timely and accurate analysis of financial results
Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
Maintain audit readiness and oversee/coordinate financial audits
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipate future legislation; enforce adherence to requirements; file financial reports; advise management on needed actions
Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results
Maintain financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
Maintain financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Maintain professional and technical knowledge
Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
Assist with the company’s annual budget and quarterly forecast processes\
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

What we’re really looking for:
A degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, preference will be given to candidates with a CPA designation
Minimum of seven to ten years of accounting experience including previous controllership roles (experience in the insurance industry is a plus)
