1100 Architect provides architectural design, programming, space analysis, interior design, and master planning services to public and private clients. The firm works around the world and in different markets, including educational, cultural, commercial, residential, and civic.
We are seeking a Communications & Marketing Director with strong knowledge of and experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry to join our New York team.
The CMD will work closely with senior leadership and is responsible for developing and executing a strategic marketing communications plan which aligns with the ethos of 1100 Architect and supports our initiatives.
The ideal candidate is an excellent written and oral communicator with the ability to articulate matters of complexity and nuance clearly and succinctly to all audiences.
The CMD will collaborate with senior leadership and other team members to:
- Stay informed about trends, best practices, and opportunities in AEC and develop strategies to enhance engagement and relevance;
- Research, identify, and pursue new business opportunities, including writing, gathering, and organizing supportive materials;
- Collaborate with leadership in drafting language in support of design proposals, proposal cover letters, statements describing project methodology, strategic project narratives, featured design elements, supportive design initiatives, social and functional impact;
- Oversee RFQ/RFP response submissions and other marketing material to ensure consistency in messaging and visual representation;
- Oversee development of, and direct updates to, all collateral material;
- Lead a cooperative effort among marketing team and act as advisor to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems;
- Identify opportunities for design awards.
The CMD will also be responsible for managing all public-facing firm communications:
- Create Impactful content for website, social media, newsletters, brochures, etc;
- Actively manage the firm's social media profiles;
- Structure and write press releases and other communications;
- Collaborate with the Marketing team in the 1100 Frankfurt studio on joint initiatives.
The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, be a motivated self-starter, and possess the following qualifications:
- Has at least 10 years of experience leading marketing and business development efforts in the AEC industry, including having personally written for and produced proposal packages;
- Understands the architecture industry and has a proven ability to identify, pursue and advance business prospects;
- Strong leadership and relationship-building skills and a collaborative and team-oriented disposition;
- Be high-energy and assertive; known for driving results;
- Advanced understanding of creating content for and publishing on social media platforms;
- Expertise with document layout, with an exacting eye for detail;
- Superior organization skills for smart planning, time optimization, detail orientation;
- Ability to manage concurrent assignments under strict deadlines and willingness to work overtime when necessary;
- Software proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus;
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
