Full Job Description
UVU is seeking part-time reserve police officers to enforce local, state, and federal laws and ensure compliance with University policies. Provides security for personnel, real property, and equipment. Investigates and documents crimes/incidents, preserves evidence, testifies in court, and in student code of conduct hearings.
Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent AND P.O.S.T graduate. Applicant must be currently Certified Law Enforcement Officer or certifiable as a State of Utah Law Enforcement Officer.
Valid Drivers License.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the Utah State Code, local laws and ordinances.
Skills in use of firearm and able to qualify semi annually.
Skills in the operation of a vehicle in a emergency situations.
Skills in investigative procedures.
Skills in interpersonal communication and problem-solving.
Ability to work effectively in high stress situations and show good decision-making.
Ability to operate computer software (word processor, report writing system.
Ability to walk, run, and stand for long periods.
Ability to maintain control in a high-stress situation.
Ability to pass a full background investigation.
Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.
Pay Range $17.26 - $21.57 DOE
