Sr. Software Architect, Regulatory Biology Laboratory - G510

The Salk Institute for Biological Studies - La Jolla, CA


The RBIO-P lab is seeking a part time or full time software architect for an initial period of 12 months. The person will work with a team of clinical scientists, data scientists, and software developers to design and implement a software platform and app. This integrated digital platform will collect health behavior data, integrate with wearable data streams, securely store behavior and health data, and use advanced machine learning algorithms to analyze and present data. Successful candidate is expected to have a Master's level degree in computer science, data science, or machine learning and more than 3 years experience in developing and implementing digital platforms in healthcare space. Demonstrated familiarity with HIPAA and GDPR privacy guidelines to develop software solutions in compliance with these regulatory guidelines are necessary. Experience in implementing large databases, use of machine learning for data query, building stable and efficient complex digital platforms with short response latency is desirable.



  • MS in computer science or allied fields.



  • At least 3 years of experience in a project leader or equivalent position building stable software platforms that collect and analyze human health or behavior data.
  • Familiarity with emerging Al concepts and practices.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in an animal-related research environment.
  • Satisfactory completion of the lnstitute's background investigation.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires constant adjusting focus, grasping, hearing, keying, seeing, sitting, talking, analyzing, calculating, communicating, reading, reasoning, wriring, working inside in a confinded area.
