City Harvest is New York City’s largest food rescue organization, helping to feed the more than 1.2 million New Yorkers who are struggling to put meals on their tables. The goal of the Senior Project Manager is to support City Harvest’s key Operations and Programs teams in the implementation of our Strategic Plans. The incumbent will be responsible for developing collaborative relationships across various internal functions and work within those teams to identify, marshal and organize resources to achieve success. This individual will manage overlapping logistical project needs and will establish processes and procedures that ensure we meet our goals for food and program delivery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for solving problems, be results oriented and be a skilled influencer.
This new and highly visible role will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer. It is based at our Manhattan HQ with some travel to our LIC Food Rescue Facility and within the 5 boroughs.
What you will do:
Act as the lead project manager for cross-functional Operations and Programs teams. Set and agree on timelines, success measures, owners and all other key components to successful project management.
Monitor the implementation of the Strategic Plan including leading the development of annual work plans, working with teams to identify and monitor key milestones, and supporting the reporting of results to leadership at City Harvest including the Board of Directors.
Proactively identify and prioritize risks, issues, and bottlenecks and resolve issues across functions.
In partnership with the Operations and Program teams, create and codify Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Test for usability, viability, and risk.
Work with our Business Intelligence department to create and analyze logistical patterns and operational KPI’s.
Understand the associated costs for the operational and programmatic strategic plans per functional area and meet with each department head about their fiscal budgets as tied to meeting strategic goals
What you have done/Who you are:
Bachelor's degree. STEM majors are a plus!
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant work experience in consulting, finance, supply chain, procurement, inventory planning, or related field.
Possess a strong project management background with demonstrated experience leading diverse teams.
Good financial acumen and understanding of budgets, variances and re-forecasts as tied to deliverables.
Experience performing cost-benefit analysis that leverages benchmarks/assumptions/proxies as necessary.
Exceptional communication skills: clear written and verbal communication and the ability to listen effectively.
Excellent creative thinking skills. Able to develop innovative solutions to solve complex problems.
Strong ability to estimate, schedule and track initiatives. Proven tenacity and resilience to overcome challenges.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and CRM software.
