The Sustainer and Mid-Level Donor Manager raises funds and support for Project HOPE’s lifesaving work around the world by developing and optimizing sustainer and mid-level giving programs that increase donors’ long-term relationship with and investment in Project HOPE.
Manage HOPE’s sustainer program, partnering with colleagues and external agencies to grow the number of sustainers acquired in direct response channels
Increase retention through ongoing testing and optimization, and upgrade giving amounts
Oversee the experience of mid-level donors, supporters who give $1,000-$9,999 a year to HOPE
Work closely with external agencies as well as internal partners to devise strategies that help move mass market donors up to mid-level giving
Steward mid-level donors, and retain as well as upgrade their giving
Act as organizational point of contact for mid-level donor group
Work closely with colleagues on the Leadership and Legacy Giving team to manage the movement of mid-level donors into and out of the major gifts pool, creating and maintaining best practices regarding coding, notes, and data integrity in database of record as donors and prospects move in and out of managed pools
Collaborate on strategies that maximize the donors’ relationships with HOPE and ensure their treatment is appropriate to their needs and philanthropic goals
Coordinate with the Digital Fundraiser to ensure that treatment of sustainer and mid-level donors is aligned across channels, including digital.
Partner and strategize with Special Events Manager on stewardship and treatment of mid-level donors giving through events or P2P fundraising
Minimum 5 years’ experience in development, with progressively increasing responsibilities – sustainer and/or mid-level experience strongly preferred
Poised and professional communication style – in writing, over the phone, and in-person
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with outside vendors
Experience working in cross-functional teams and with external agencies/vendors
Very strong writing, proofing and copy-editing skills
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at a time
Detail-oriented and organized
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Experience in donor-facing roles
Experience with international relief or global health sectors
Experience managing canvassing, telemarketing, direct mail and/or digital programs
Experience using a CRM such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or NetForum
Ability to effectively use analytics to inform strategies and evaluate results
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
