General Summary of Position:
The individual in this position provides administrative and secretarial support to the Department of General Surgery Program providers. Answers phones, registers patients, schedules appointments, posts surgical procedures, and coordinates insurance verifications and pre-authorizations. Manages provider calendars, coordinates travel, and assists with academic activities within the General Surgery Program. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
AA degree required, BS/BA preferred.
Two years of progressively responsible office experience preferred.
Excellent oral communication, writing, organizational skills and abilities.
Extensive knowledge of computer software and hardware including packages for word processing, database, desktop publishing, statistical programs, and communications.
