POSITION SUMMARY:
Drive delivery truck and assist with deliveries/pickups to and from locations within the district and occasionally outside of the district. Items being transported include, but not limited to, custodial supplies, textbooks, food, furniture, interoffice mail. Will maintain record of items picked up and/or delivered. Process paperwork electronically utilizing Word, Excel, and Google. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivers and/or picks up items across the district as requested through Inventory Direct or Maintenance Direct work orders
Obtains all paperwork associated with the delivery or pickup for submission to warehouse supervisor
Responsible for all equipment and/or vehicles assigned; performs daily safety checks on vehicles and equipment assigned
Uses forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other equipment to load and unload trucks and stage items for delivery
Assists with District and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED required
Minimum of two (2) years warehouse experience required
Makes decisions which impact apprentices and schools/buildings within the district
Valid Georgia driver’s license; CDL strongly preferred
Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of Warehouse Supervisor
Requires contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance
Provides training and guidance to apprentices
Familiarity with computer applications preferred
Minimal-major depending on task being performed
Before being extended an offer of employment, selected candidates will be notified by the district to undergo the required physical examination for this position. Applicants are responsible for the initial cost of the physical examination ($150-$200), and only candidates who pass and hired for this position will be reimbursed for the associated fees within 45 days of hire.
NOTE: This is a grade 21, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
