IC SCC’s mission is to coordinate the cybersecurity incident response for the intelligence community, the center’s director, Wally Coggins, recently told Federal News Radio. To improve its mission, the center wants to beef up its data-sharing capabilities, coordinate cybersecurity functions and conduct more life-like training, which feds say is often lacking.
The center achieves its mission through continuous two-way communication with the 17 intelligence agencies and their incident response centers, Coggins says. The IC SCC also works closely with other cybersecurity partners, including U.S. Cyber Command within the Defense Department and the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center at the Department of Homeland Security.
Job Description: Cyberspace Solutions seeks exceptionally qualified individuals to serve as an Cyber Coordination Watch Officer in support of a DIA contract. The Intelligence Community Security Coordination Center (IC SCC) is a federal cyber center with a mission to ensure the execution of defensive activities, coordinate security monitoring across the IC, and maintain awareness of security-related threats, events, and incidents. The Cyber Coordination Watch Officer serves as the IC SCC nexus, providing near real-time security of IC ITE and IC Elements. The SCC Watch is responsible for providing 24x7x365 cybersecurity event monitoring and intermediate cyber threat analysis management on behalf of the IC CIO. They facilitate and coordinate enterprise situational awareness and response across the IC for all cybersecurity related concerns. This position has a monthly rotational schedule (4 day / 10 hour schedule rotating weekly between 0500-1500 and 1400-midnight).
Job Requirements: The position of Cyber Coordination Watch Officer shall possess the following qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years of industry experience preferred; or a High School Diploma plus 8 years experience, an Associate's Degree plus 6 years experience, a Master's Degree plus 2 years experience, or a PHD. Cyber security knowledge required. Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills required. Experience in Cyber Watch with strong analytical background preferred. Vulnerability Research and Reporting experience a plus. Incident Response experience is a plus. Detail-oriented, motivated professional.
