Job Summary: Clark Communications is recruiting energetic, outgoing event staff to support the study and assessment of the region's transit service quality while improving the overall service to Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester County residents and visitors. Outreach staffers will assist in organizing and executing outreach activities, collecting feedback, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement:
- Attend/staff community listening sessions, workshops, and public meetings to gather input on transit needs and redesign options.
- Distribute and promote surveys (both paper and digital) at transit stations, community centers, libraries, local businesses, and during community events.
- Engage directly with community members to explain the project, address concerns, and encourage participation.
Event Coordination:
- Set up and manage outreach booths at various locations, including transit stops, community events, and stakeholder meetings.
- Attend public meetings and workshops, arrange venues and logistics, materials, and technology needs.
- Provide on-the-ground support during events, including managing survey distribution and collecting completed surveys.
Stakeholder Interaction:
- Work with local non-profits, social services, and advocacy groups to reach underserved populations effectively.
- Ideal but not required - Assist in translating outreach materials and providing interpretation services as needed for non-English-speaking communities.
Feedback Collection and Reporting:
- Conduct in-person surveys and interviews with transit riders and community members to gather feedback on current services and proposed changes.
- Track and document feedback and participation metrics to assist in the analysis and reporting process.
Qualifications:
- Outgoing, energetic personality!
- Proficiency in English; Spanish or Haitian Creole is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or a degree in public relations, communications, social sciences, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
- Familiarity with digital tools for survey administration and social media platforms.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to get to and from events via public transit, rideshare services, private vehicles, etc.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoor settings and busy community spaces.
