Job Summary:
The Foster Care and Adoption Family Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator (FAFROC) works collaboratively with many social and community settings\venues to identify potential families, provide comprehensive family assessment and preparation as well as training with the goal of retention of families He/she works as part of the team to attract potential parents and support them through the process of qualifying and being appropriately matched with a child for the means of fostering and\or adopting. The FAFROC also provides leadership by supporting the mission of the program and agency at all times, through supervision of adoption workers, support and guidance to foster care colleagues, and by providing direct work with families and the community

Essential Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Outreach:
Develop and implement marketing plan for family recruitment that could have impact across departments and have objectives – that could include presentations, information meetings, advertisement and other creative efforts to attract new families
Establish and maintain working relationships with leaders in community settings (i.e., congregations, hospitals, libraries, schools, businesses) for the purpose of recruiting families
Work with foster care and adoption teams for the recruitment and retention of families; identify barriers and implement inclusive methods for successful recruitment
Coordinate and attend special event opportunities within the community for the purpose of recruiting families
Work with the Ascentria Marketing Department to update materials as needed
Effectively recruit and assist with the development of enough qualified families to meet or exceed the growth targets for the program
Promote awareness, education and training to the community and to prepare families for understanding the process of caring and\or adopting a child

Clinical/Administrative:
Maintain an excellent relationship with state or private funding sources and other state authorities responsible for regulating foster and adoptive homes or child placing agencies
Develop and maintain expertise on permanency for children and youth, family development, and licensing and funding regulations which can be shared across program
Work closely with foster families, adoptive families and kinship families to assure highest quality of care for children
Coordinate MAPP training as needed across foster care and adoption departments
Conduct home studies on new families’ and\or child assessments as needed
Maintain and ensure that required documentation is complete in a timely manner and meets contractual guidelines
Provide positive role modeling and leadership to those that are directly supervised as well as within the team setting.
Assure that supervision of staff is done on a weekly basis and in a professional manner taking into account individuals needs
Participate in hiring and disciplining of employees as well as completion of performance evaluations for those that are supervised
Develop and participate in team building with the Program Manager and Senior Program Manager.
Conduct home studies on new families’ and\or child assessments as needed
Address issues in the preparation of families in a positive, proactive and supportive manner, setting goals and establishing plans as needed utilizing input from family and other team members
Function consistently with all agency policies, including confidentiality, and client rights and responsibilities
Attend all necessary meetings
Actively participate in staff meetings and other related meetings contributing to a positive environment of continuous learning
Consult with the team and Senior Program Manager and Assistant Program Manager to assure appropriate matches, sharing the strengths and limitations of the foster families
Provide crisis management in a calm and effective manner as needed in situations
Utilize supervision effectively to address concerns

Essential Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Human Services related field required
Minimum of 5 years’ experience required
Minimum of LSW licensure required
Knowledge of the DCF/DEEC systems
Ability to travel to locations throughout the region in own vehicle is required
Familiarity and experience with school, clinical and social service systems
Demonstrated ability to be a leader and supervisor
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking, interpersonal communication and professional writing
Ability to work independently and to set goals and objectives
Ability to be certified in First Aid and CPR
Open attitude and ability to manage crisis situations
Computer skills including word, excel, and e-mail competency
Flexibility in thinking and scheduling including working nights and weekends
Positive and energetic presentation and customer service attitude
Ability to transport and carry presentation materials including display boards and information packets

Travel Required
Yes. Travel to locations throughout region in own vehicle
