CTEC is currently looking for Testing Manager.
The Testing Manager is responsible for performing testing and quality assurance duties throughout the data warehouse development life cycle. This position will work closely with a Data Management team to assist in testing and analysis of data integration and data transformation as well as defined and ad-hoc company reports. They will be a champion of our data and reports, helping to identify and resolve any data discrepancies within the data warehouse or reporting for the company. This position demonstrates and promotes innovation, and proactively seeks out automated solutions to business problems. They should create and build upon reusable test collateral on the knowledge foundation of the reporting solution. They should consult with data/business owners and teammates to identify all facets of an issue to help generate a solution as well as understand the potential impacts to processes and systems across the organization to create test scenarios.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Improve the overall software quality of Point of Sale (POS) and payments applications in use at CBP’s by implementing processes and technology that create a balance of high-quality testing and expedience. The implementation of automation and technology will be a core responsibility of this resource. Liaise among stakeholders and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) personnel in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements so as to provide effective and resourceful business and technology solutions.
Key role in defining and implementing Testing and Quality Assurance (QA) processes and technology with a focus on automation. Ability to define, manage, and monitor Testing/QA processes while continually improving the overall software quality and turnaround time for changes. The implementation of Testing/QA for POS and Payment Processing applications requires a blend of core Testing/QA skills with an eye for customer experience effectiveness. Partner with the required Information Technology personnel for the development and maintenance of business-critical solutions within the assigned/aligned business units.
Lead and manage day-to-day Testing / QA activities
Assist with the analysis, revision and quality enhancement of existing business processes
Review requirements and technical design documents with developers/analysts to confirm expected functionality and business needs
Partner with business to create new quality assurance business processes
Work closely with Business Analysts, Program Managers, Project Managers, Developers, Business Intelligence (BI) personnel, and System Manager to achieve on-time delivery of IT projects, ensuring that each exceeds all quality standards
Establish Testing /QA objectives and define appropriate metrics to measure success
Drive/Coordinate/Perform BI testing including Functional Testing, Data Validation, Regression Testing, System Integration Testing, Automated Testing and User Acceptance Testing.
Define and implement quality standards, processes, and procedures
Responsible for writing and executing test cases/plans, mapping test cases to requirements, conducting peer review of test suite, documentation and tracking defects and issues, closing testing activities for complex application and system implementation projects using a formal project management methodology.
Implement automated Testing / QA tools and technologies to increase the effectiveness of the QA process
Work with software team and vendor to insert Testing / QA milestones throughout the development lifecycle, including quality acceptance, stress, load, regression and/or integration testing
Define a process to track, resolve, and report software-related issues / defects and generate and publish metrics and key performance indicators for the team and business partners
Test applications against requirements, designs, and / or another applicable project documentation
Test deployment procedures against user and system documentation
Ensure quality control by conducting walkthroughs, reviewing checklists, auditing deliverables and evaluating project milestones against established objectives
Lead the development of requirements for analyzing & selecting Testing / QA tools, including manual and automated solutions
Ability and desire to mentor and share Testing / QA knowledge with IT team members and across the company
Develop trending reports and data quality metrics for reporting
10+ years IT / QA-related experience, at least 5 years managing and leading Testing / QA resources in a client facing environment in a FEDERAL DEPARTMENT/AGENCY
Knowledge of data management as well as business analysis tools and techniques
Knowledge of relational databases with the ability to extract data as necessary
Experience in Software Release Management
Experience in multiple SDLC methodologies, including WaterFall, Iterative, and Agile
Knowledge of databases, system integration skills, C#/VB.Net MS SQL Server development experience in both Windows and Web environments, and data reporting structures.
Experience in the following areas of focus: Mperium POS suite of products, Xpient, ERP packages (SAP, Oracle), mobile applications, and BI tools.
Working knowledge of testing toolsets and other automation applications (Quick Test Pro, Test Partner, Test Complete, SilkTest, Mercury TestDirector, Worksoft, etc.)
Prior experience with key development toolsets (e.g. Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server (TFS), and databases (MS SQL Server, Pervasive, Access).
Experience working with development teams from initial development of business requirements, through the development/testing as well as providing on-going maintenance and support
Ability to communicate with data management team regarding status, issues, and risk on a timely basis.
Hard Skills: Requirements include knowledge of databases, system integration skills, C#/VB.Net MS SQL Server development experience in both Windows and Web environments, SDLC, and data reporting structures. Experience in the following areas of focus a plus: ACI Postilion, AJB Software, Retalix POS suite of products, Xpient, ERP packages (SAP, Oracle), mobile applications, and BI tools.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, analytical aptitude, business acumen, client focus, problem solving skills and technical initiative are required. A successful candidate should have excellent team-oriented interpersonal skills and work in a team environment. Competently understands customer requirements; easily troubleshoots and solves problems with minimal supervision and direction; capable of researching and making fact-based, data backed decisions; skilled at developing relationships outside of IT.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems or other related field or equivalent experience or certification.
Must be clearable
