The Administrative Offices of the Court (AOC) is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to support the design, implementation, maintenance, availability, administration, and security of AOC and Appellate Court IT systems and infrastructure.
Installation, configuration, maintenance, update and management of both physical and virtual Windows and OES/Linux server operating systems.
Configuration, maintenance, update and management of VMWare environment.
Maintain and manage Windows WSUS services.
Maintain and manage email system.
Windows, OES/Linux and email user account management.
Establish standards and specifications, maintain, manage and monitor performance of network infrastructure.
Create, implement and maintain automated processes to streamline and promote effective server management. Train and mentor staff on processes.
Ensure adherence to AOC IT policies and procedures.
Work with security staff to maintain the security of AOC systems and assist with security incident response.
Develop and maintain system and process documentation.
Design, implement, maintain and manage internal network infrastructure. Mentor and work with staff on all infrastructure processes.
Provide tier 2 and 3 top level technical support as needed. Delegate and work with staff on developing/implementing incident resolutions.
Keep abreast of trends and developments in IT as it relates job functions. Communicate information to the rest of the team.
Other related duties and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree. A minimum of five years of experience in the configuration, maintenance, upgrade and replacement of networked systems, including the maintenance of server hardware and operating systems. An Associates Degree in a computer related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the require Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of three years of experience in the resolution of technology issues related to Windows and/or Linux servers. Experience may be substituted for required degrees with technology industry certifications, and a proven minimum of five years of successfully managing Windows and/or Linux servers in a multi-user, networked environment. Minimum of 2 years direct experience with networking equipment and technologies, including firewalls, routers, layer 3 switches, Ethernet, TCP/IP, (routing and sub-netting) VLAN and QoS. Minimum of 2 years direct experience with Windows and or Linux server operating systems, (experience with MicroFocus OES/Linux is desirable). Minimum of 2 years direct experience in VMware deployment and management. Minimum of 2 years direct experience with email system management.
Proven experience in a network/server administrator role.
Experience and high level of understanding in regards to a variety of networking equipment, including firewalls, routers and layer 3 switches.
Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired.
Ability to set up and configure server hardware.
Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
Knowledge Windows and Linux server operating systems.
Experience with VMWare, Windows and Linux server implementation and administration.
Microsoft and/or Linux OS certifications a plus.
Good problem solving skills an ability to work under pressure.
Skilled at organizing, prioritizing and multitasking.
Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Previous experience with the State of Tennessee is desirable.
Experience with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
Ability to work occasional evening or weekend for project needs.
Ability to travel within the state.
Ability to lift and transport 75 pounds.
