Position: Industrial Engineer - with emphasis in Process Work and Analytics

Job Description:
Forward Air is seeking an Industrial Engineer with emphasis on process improvement and support of internal business units through analysis.

The appropriate candidate shall have a BS or MS degree in Industrial Engineering, Operational Research, or Data Analytics and 0-15 years of experience. Excellent written and communication skills are required as this position will require interaction with senior managers. Additionally, the candidate should be able to conduct business process analyses that will likely require presentation of these analyses.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Perform analysis and process studies of existing or new operations and document using flow chart software
Re-engineer processes to maximize efficiency
Develop project business cases and perform financial analyses to quantify project benefits
Use data and analytics to demonstrate quantitative benefits to Operations Management on specific changes that improve labor productivity and performance
Identify opportunities to use systems and automation to improve terminal operations and efficiencies
Perform data analysis for predictive outcomes that could be used for decision making
Use critical thinking to understand data and draw reasonable conclusions
Mindful of attention to detail and ability to validate data and results
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
A minimum of a 4 year College Degree from an accredited university, with a preference for a BSIE
Preference for 2 years’ experience as an Industrial Engineer or Data Analyst
Proficiency with SQL to write queries and pull data from multiple data sources
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to explain analyses and correlation to operational practices; easily communicate complex ideas
Strong math, statistical, analytical, database/computer science skills with ability to drive to conclusions
Ability to work with multiple groups including Operations, IT, and Accounting/Invoicing
Ability to work independently as well as on project teams
Strong quantitative skills; Strong computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), MS Visio or other graphical flow chart program.
Ability to travel by airline in the US and Canada (5%-20% of the time)
Experience using data, statistical tools, and statistical software to identify high-impact process improvements and measure their effect
Strong systems skills and advanced knowledge of at least one computer simulation product (Simeo, Flexsim, Simon, Other), graphical flow chart program, and MS Office applications
