Objective & Essential Functions

Lead the global effort to transition to standardized, systemized and simplified Back Office and Transactional processes
Implement best-in-class Compliance, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and General Accounting processes
Build effective relationships with key stakeholders, included but not limited to all Asset Controller Finance teams, Operations accounting teams, relevant Procurement & IT stakeholders
Propose and align Murphy’s future Financial Control Environment to a global ‘off the shelf’ model, with supporting documentation framework
Document global process solutions and skillfully employ key skills and talent in the organization to facilitate change
Identify, plan for, and develop strategies, services, and activities to support current and future customer needs in an efficient, high quality, and cost effective manner
Manage a global team with a focus on effective, ongoing communication and a culture of continuous improvement
Act as liaison between Murphy and Internal/External audit teams; ensure effective communication and SOX compliance

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 37.5 hours each week to maintain full-time status.


Some global travel required.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience, plus ten years of accounting experience
Experience in leading a back office or transactional processing team
Experience in design and documentation of process
Skilled at building effective relationships across multiple functions with competing priorities
Experience in change projects and managing change

Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
Presentation skills.
Oil & Gas industry experience
