Objective & Essential Functions

  • Lead the global effort to transition to standardized, systemized and simplified Back Office and Transactional processes
  • Implement best-in-class Compliance, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and General Accounting processes
  • Build effective relationships with key stakeholders, included but not limited to all Asset Controller Finance teams, Operations accounting teams, relevant Procurement & IT stakeholders
  • Propose and align Murphy’s future Financial Control Environment to a global ‘off the shelf’ model, with supporting documentation framework
  • Document global process solutions and skillfully employ key skills and talent in the organization to facilitate change
  • Identify, plan for, and develop strategies, services, and activities to support current and future customer needs in an efficient, high quality, and cost effective manner
  • Manage a global team with a focus on effective, ongoing communication and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Act as liaison between Murphy and Internal/External audit teams; ensure effective communication and SOX compliance

  • Work Environment

    This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical Demands

    This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 37.5 hours each week to maintain full-time status.


    Some global travel required.

    Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience, plus ten years of accounting experience
  • Experience in leading a back office or transactional processing team
  • Experience in design and documentation of process
  • Skilled at building effective relationships across multiple functions with competing priorities
  • Experience in change projects and managing change

  • Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Oil & Gas industry experience
