POSITION SUMMARY
This position is full-time, salaried and exempt from overtime, accountable for the effective and efficient operation of the Atlanta Ballet Production department. In this role function as overall team leader of the Production department, ensuring that the production team meets the needs of the Artistic Department, and effectively meets deadlines and financial goals. The Production Manager will have an active role in both overseeing business operations and actively participating in production work.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
· Oversight of all production activities.
· Determine and manage all production needs for all Professional & Centre for Dance Education productions both in Atlanta and on tour;
· Ensure compliance with laws and regulations regarding all licensing, permits, certificates and documentation relevant to the performances of Atlanta Ballet, interfacing with the Chief Financial Officer regarding compliance issues;
· Facilitate coordination and communication between Artistic, Production and Administrative departments;
· Manage collection and sharing of all relevant production information and documentation to all concerned entities (i.e. production, artistic, venue, etc.);
· Oversee Production, Wardrobe, and related calendars to ensure they align with Artistic Operations calendars and that workflow effectively meets organizational needs;
· Effectively manage all aspects of Atlanta Ballet production rentals to maximize revenue when production elements are not in use;
· Collaborate with departments throughout the organization regarding other events;
· Manage all production labor contracts, maintaining ongoing relationships with the contact entities, and interfacing with the Chief Financial Officer for record-keeping and compliance. Contracts may include, but are not limited to the following:
o Production Staff Employment Contracts
o I.A.T.S.E. Labor Contracts (stagehands & wardrobe)
o Other contracted production labor (i.e. sound engineer, CDL truck driver)
o Venue/Performance spaces
o Professional Touring Contracts

§ Touring Company Riders

· Oversee the technical and stage management aspects of all rehearsals and performances, and manages all of the Ballet’s production personnel and materials;
· Review all scenic floor plans, rigging points, line schedules, etc.;
· Responsible for the research for production rentals and availability;
· As needed secure outside vendors for production necessities;
· Oversee and attend technical work calls and rehearsals in the theatre;
· Assist Stage Management in all sound and audio requirements for productions;
· Oversee all aspects of production transportation including when necessary international customs and shipping.
Personnel Management
· Direct and supervise the production department managers, including the Technical Director, Production Stage manager, and Costume Director.
· Manage through the use of relevant position descriptions, on-the-job training, production department policies and protocols, and Atlanta Ballet policies and procedures;
· Responsible for direct reports’ annual performance evaluations and the development of goals for professional growth;
· Responsible for ensuring that direct reports who supervise complete their requirements for performance evaluation and goal setting with their staff;
· Mentor, coach, and counsel staff to promote professional growth and ensure appropriate performance standards are met or exceeded;
· Maintain complete coaching and counseling documentation for inclusion in the organizational Human Resource files.
Fiscal Responsibilities
· Responsible for development and performance to plan of annual production budget, individual project budgets, and touring budgets, when applicable;
· Accountable for timely and accurate submission of invoices and purchase orders to ensure effective expense controls;
· Actively collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Artistic Operations during the developmental phase of budgeting in order to fully support the overarching organizational budget;
· Responsible for timely cost analysis/projections for all proposed budgets;
· Manage production accounts receivable, including invoicing for asset rentals, maintain communication with Finance on receivable invoicing and collections, or work directly with Finance to ensure that invoicing and collection of payments have been completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Long-term/ Forward thinking
· Participate in strategic planning sessions with the goal of furthering Atlanta Ballet’s mission and future objectives ;
· Improve and maintain Rental Program
· Build program to promote rental opportunities;
· Develop Production/asset rental page on the website;
· Oversee negotiation of rental contracts, manage rental calendar
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work/performing experience
· 5 years of experience in a large-scale professional ballet, opera or performing arts environment, managerial position preferred
· Broad working knowledge of all aspects of theatrical production and lighting design
· Prior experience in budgeting and financial management
· Prior experience managing theatre labor crew (specifically I.A.T.S.E.)
· Ability working with PC/Mac operating systems in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and experience working in Auto CAD, ETC equipment, QLab, Vectorworks, Lightwright and other professional programs
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented and efficient
· Strong interpersonal skills; collaborative and transparent
· Ability to work independently, prioritize, and take initiative; creative and resourceful
Reporting to the Director of Technology & Sales Operations, with secondary reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer.
Compensation and Benefits
Atlanta Ballet provides a competitive and equitable compensation package with salary range of $ $72,000-$82,000 annually. Employee benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, personal days, and holidays; health, long-term disability, life insurance; and a voluntary 403(b) retirement plan.
