Warner Bros. Media Sales Finance group is seeking a Manager, Media Finance. The position is responsible for supporting the Media Sales group for First Run and Off Network Syndication barter ad sales, including, but not limited to, oversight, review and system approval of advertising sales billing, revenue recognition, cash application and reporting and monthly and quarterly closes for Domestic Television Distribution (DTD) which sells Warner Bros. Theatrical and Television product in the Pay TV, Cable, Broadcast Network, Streaming Video on Demand (SVOD), Advertising Video on Demand (AVOD), Syndication cash & barter ad sales and Digital/Online markets.
Hands-on management of the by-title advertising sales revenue and cash reporting for the monthly and quarterly General Ledger closes. Oversees preparation of journal entries in the General Ledger system, SAP.
Oversees daily cash application in SAP. Reviews open items report to ensure accuracy. Oversees cash in advance process to ensure payments are received prior to integration of commercial advertising time.
Spearheads agency billings and assists in resolving client billing discrepancies and addressing requests to assist in expediting collections.
Acts as a liaison with sales teams and management to assist sales efforts and tracking. Creates and updates agency and advertiser information in the Media Sales subsystem, DealMaker. Oversees testing of DealMaker new releases, enhancements and defect fixes and communicates issues and findings.
Collaborates with DTD FP&A, Finance and Financial Reporting & Accounting (including Credit & Collections personnel) to assist in researching and explaining discrepancies and variances for barter activity.
Direct oversight and management of the Senior Financial Analyst and Analyst, including training and development, delegating work and providing real time constructive feedback.
Proactively identifies and implements internal improvements and process changes to gain efficiencies, streamline workflow and improve reporting.
Ensures that all tasks are completed in an appropriate sequence and in a timely manner to meet internal and corporate reporting deadlines.
Assists in responding to requests from Warner Bros.’ Participations & Residuals, Tax and Legal departments and WarnerMedia and external third-party auditors to facilitate reviews and audits.
Assists with the preparation and on-gong updates of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act compliance documentation narratives. Facilitates reviews and testing of external controls to ensure business unit’s compliance.
Acts as a key participant in system replacement initiatives by acting as a subject matter expert on relevant business functions.
Performs special projects and ad-hoc reconciliations as required.
What do we require from you?
BA/BS degree in Accounting/Finance or related field required.
Management skills required.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, and procedures required.
Must have a thorough knowledge of the personal computer, including Excel, Access and Word.
Strong technical spreadsheet applications experience, primarily Excel, required.
Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with all levels of management.
Strong managerial skills.
SAP experience preferred.
Minimum 5 years previous experience in accounting required.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Entertainment industry experience preferred.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with managers and other levels of personnel.
