The Senior Manager, Tax position is responsible for assisting the EVP, Tax in all aspects of accounting for income taxes and income tax planning. This individual will work with financial management within the Company and assist in leading a Tax department consisting of highly-trained and technical individuals with diverse backgrounds.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) for the US and international operations. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, deferred tax analysis, uncertain tax positions, compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and tax related financial disclosures, accounting for and documenting the tax implication of significant transactions as well as changes in accounting rules
Manages, plans, and organizes a comprehensive tax strategy and global tax planning in support of corporate goals and objectives.
Manages the tax accounting for acquisitions, dispositions and legal entity restructuring in order to evaluate US and global tax impacts of new transactions and provide due diligence and tax planning to minimize the Company’s tax liabilities.
Collaborates with head of tax compliance and head of REIT tax structuring and administration
Oversees analyses related to tax reform and the implication on accounting for income taxes.
Develops and maintains a cohesive working knowledge of the domestic and international business operations.
Responsible for the indirect tax accounting for the sales and use and property tax accruals.
Conducts special tax projects of a complex and difficult nature.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master’s degree in taxation. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) very desirable.
Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience with at least five (5) years in a public accounting firm.
Experience in management positions with demonstrated supervisory experience.
Strong skills in accounting for taxes (ASC 740). Exposure to international taxation desirable.
Strong corporate tax technical knowledge and advanced technical knowledge of GAAP.
Solid project management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines with the appropriate sense of urgency.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with other departments.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department. Exposure to OneSource Tax Provision software desired.
Knowledge of integrated management information systems (Hyperion / Oracle) is a plus.
