At Unison, we are creating an entirely new category that is modernizing the home financing market. Unison HomeBuyer helps buyers get the home they want with less debt and risk, typically by doubling the down payment. The larger down payment makes it easier to qualify for a mortgage loan, increases buying power, lowers monthly payments and/or allows a buyer to reserve cash. Unison HomeOwner provides current homeowners with cash without the added debt or payments of a home equity loan or HELOC and without the interest and fees typically attached to a reverse mortgage.

As Unison’s first Vice President of People, you are coming in to place your mark on a business that is growing quickly and building a foundation for great long-term success. In our quest to grow and continue to be a great place to work, we are looking for you to be a strong communicator and relationship manager as well as very savvy about leveraging data to inform decisions. You will report directly to our Chief Legal and Administrative Officer, work closely with management to define and prioritize business strategies, and build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to support and empower employees.
In your role as the Vice President of People you will conceptualize, define, and deliver on initiatives related to a variety of functional areas including learning and development, leadership, talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, employee engagement, performance management, employee onboarding, analytics and total rewards. This will involve cross-functional collaboration with management and functional leaders to prioritize and implement both department-specific and company-wide initiatives. You will also partner closely with our talent partner by enhancing and growing our recruiting and sourcing functions, new employee onboarding, internship programming, and other project and people management priorities.

We’re looking for someone who understands growth start-ups and can navigate through the various scaling challenges so many companies face. This role is both player and coach and will be heavily focused on employee alignment and empowerment, not just policy and administration.
Your responsibilities will include:
Spearhead the planning and hands-on execution of team building and culture building programs
Become a trusted advisor and valued resource to employees to discuss management and/or employment related issues
Develop and implement a learning and development program for manager-level employees, which includes coaching managers on individual needs for development (e.g. career planning, transitions, training, employee coaching, etc.)
Conceptualize and facilitate employee engagement/feedback process. Collect, analyze, and integrate results for continued improvement and transparency
Champion employer branding and talent acquisition initiatives
Curate and deliver cross-functional onboarding curriculum
Run cross-company semi-annual performance review cycle
Drive the creation of a compensation philosophy and job architecture project
Help transition away from existing PEO and implement any systems necessary to replace that capability
Partner with the Executive Team and other function leads to assess and spearhead necessary organizational changes
Assist in management of facilities and ensure employee satisfaction with us of space
Develop and mentor the existing team to own aspects of benefits, immigration, onboarding and other people-related services
What you will bring to the team:
6+ years’ experience in People Operations or related fields including L&D, Organizational Development, and Talent Acquisition
Experience managing teams, working with senior management, and collaborating with cross-functional managers and employees
Strong communication and experience incorporating quantitative and qualitative feedback to inform policies, curricula, and training
Passion for establishing a culture of excellence, accountability and respect
Experience with a growing organization where you led in the building of several new programs
