Senior Systems Engineer
Advantage Solutions is looking for a talented Senior Systems Engineer to assist our Data Center and Systems Engineering team in Irvine, California.
Our Senior Systems Engineer provides advanced design and engineering support for data center server systems. This role manages, maintains and supports our global application environments across multiple data centers. As a Senior Systems Engineer you will be responsible for configuring hardware, software, and design application requirements to meet our enterprise business needs. You will serve as subject matter expert to our network users and communicate with other business units to resolve hardware/software issues and resolve complex technical issues.
Active Director experience is a must. Experience working in a call center environment supporting developers is also a plus.

Work as a subject matter expert and sometimes architect solutions seeing the full cycle impact of support decisions

6-8 years’ experience supporting a wide variety of technology solutions
Active Directory experience is a must
Windows Clustering with emphasis on clusters for SQL Server
Windows Server 2008/R2, 2012/R2 deployment and support
Dell Compellent administration
VMware vSphere/vCenter deployment/upgrade/support, especially VMware vSphere 6.5
Dell Hardware deployment/support
Exposure to public cloud helpful (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)

As a member of the Data Center and Systems Engineering team, the Sr. Systems Engineer provides implementation, design and engineering support for data center and national server and storage systems. Individual will manage, maintain, and support global application environments across multiple datacenters. Responsible for configuring hardware, software, and design application requirements to meet business needs. Serve as a contact for network users and communicate with other business units to resolve hardware and software issues and resolve complex technical issues. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Support Windows Server systems (emphasis on Server 2008 R2 and 2012)
Leverage automation techniques/technologies - Develop and maintain scripts and utilities using PERL, shell scripts, and Windows PowerShell.
Support virtualization infrastructure. VMWARE v 5.x or higher (ideally, 5.5)
Support of Datacenter SAN Infrastructure (Dell Compellent/IBM RAMSAN/CISCO MDS 9148)
Support of Veeam Backup & Recovery / Veeam One infrastructure
Support of Citrix XenApp 5.x / 6.x environment.
Support data center operations and systems infrastructure with hardware installation, and trouble-shooting.
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
Ensure systems are compliant with company security standards
Provide Mac OS X Server support and design expertise
Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems (or related)
Technical Leadership, Architecture, and Documentation
Work with cross-functional project and engineering teams to design and deploy new systems
Evaluate technologies, design solutions, and develop proposals to improve existing processes and infrastructure
Develop and maintain systems documentation to include administration guides, network, configuration diagrams and asset management
Effectively communicate with business leaders
Provide technical expertise and training to less experienced staff
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct reports
Does not have direct reports, but may delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Education Level: (Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Field of Study/Area of Experience: computer science or equivalent job-related experience
Individual should have 6-8 years of experience in related technologies and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
5+ years of experience in supporting Windows and Linux systems in an enterprise environment
3+ years of progressive experience with SAN and network technologies such as: fiber channel and FCoE
3+ years with OS virtualization technologies, preferably VMware ESXi
2+ years of experience developing, maintaining and reverse engineering scripts and utilities written in interpreted languages such as PERL, shell scripts, and Windows PowerShell
2+ years supporting web servers and content management systems
Experience managing, supporting, and integrating Mac OS X client and server systems with Active Directory
Demonstrated experience with capacity planning, availability, and system management tools
Experience managing patch deployment in a heterogeneous server environment
Experience working in large, distributed server environments
