We are offering three internships within our Infrastructure Technology group next summer for our program that will start in June 2020 in Chicago, IL. Two of these internships are part of our Telephony & Digital Workplace Services group and the other is part of our IS Core Infrastructure group. Below are the brief details of each of these 10 week opportunities.

Telephony & Digital Workplace Services – Client Solutions

The Client Solutions group at U.S. Cellular is seeking a summer intern for their Chicago location. This group is responsible for support of all internal client desktops, laptops, tablets and the backend systems that manage client systems for U.S. Cellular. The intern for this role will assist with the support of end users and client systems throughout the enterprise. This internship will provide opportunities to work with Exchange, Endpoint Encryption and Protection tools, SCCM, Citrix, Software packaging and deployment methodologies and PowerShell scripting and will gain exposure to VMware, Cisco UCS, HP Client Hardware and Apple Mobile hardware & Software.

Telephony & Digital Workplace Services – Enterprise Voice Technology

The Enterprise Voice Technology team at U.S. Cellular is seeking a summer intern for their Chicago location. This group is responsible for the support of the many components of USCC's telephony environment. Collectively the team is focused on providing and supporting world-class telephony solutions, unified communications, collaboration services, and productivity for U.S. Cellular associates. Operational support and strategic development of several contact center facing Telephony applications, phone systems within our retail, engineering, and business office locations, the Transport layer for voice to include our Oracle SBC’s, voice MPLS, and PRI’s to name a few and the development, operation, design and strategy for the easyIVR application. The intern for this role will assist with IVR testing, server configuration, call lists creation for telephony testing, telecom circuit management, exporting to an encrypted drive of recorded calls and the documentation of them. In addition, assistance with some testing for WFM, GIR, the Outbound dialer and additional Telephony Projects. This candidate will get experience working with Genesys, Avaya, Cisco, and a variety of Telephony applications and software.

IS Core Infrastructure – Database Administration

The Database Administration team at U.S. Cellular is seeking a summer intern for their Chicago office that will work under the guidance of a senior administrator to learn administration skills and gain hands-on experience. The DBA intern will be primarily responsible for assisting in the maintenance of Database documentation including consolidation, clean up, database inventory update, and creating new documentation of different aspect of database management systems, implementing database security and automating the process, help monitoring database, loading information into the database, and ensuring backups run regularly.

Requirements

Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field.
Experience with standard MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong analytical skills coupled with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required
Required minimum overall GPA of 3.0
Ability to participate and work well in cross-functional teams
Excellent presentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Previous internship(s) in engineering, network support, or relevant training / experience highly preferred.
Effective verbal and writing communication; excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution.
Experience or understanding of Databases, how they work and fit into an Enterprise system.
Experience or understanding of Microsoft Exchange server elements, virtualization, Encryption & Protection tools, software packaging and scripting.
Experience or understanding of contact center technology applications, enterprise phone systems and telephony applications and software.

Location Requirements

These internships will be offered only in our Chicago, IL location.
No housing or living expenses provided with this internship.
