The position of Senior Director, Strategic Procurement is responsible for assisting the Procurement department in the external sourcing and contracting of software and other IT tools and platforms, collaborating and implementing overall technology strategy, providing leadership and direction for diverse and complex functions, and contributing to the development of the organization’s business strategy.
Assist with the implementation of global procurement strategies across the company’s 3 Key organizations: Comcast, NBCUniversal, and SKY, including supplier consolidation, establishing preferred vendors, and delivering cost reductions.
Ability to focus on innovation and creativity and influence at all levels plus an executive presence and strong leadership in order to attain buy-in from key stakeholders and relationship owners.
Must be knowledgeable in many, if not all, of the major software players in each of the key technology categories for the cable/broadcasting/media industry.
Familiarity with contracts and vendor negotiations.
Initiate and maintain relationships with vendors and department business units to ensure quality and cost-effective goods and services.
Work with key business leaders within the company to identify and prioritize key categories of spend for procurement initiatives, and work towards developing and acting on the Company’s procurement strategy.
Ability to directly manage resources, as well as use influence and networking skills to facilitate communication and generate consensus across the company on procurement initiatives.
Ongoing development of strategy for the Company, including building support and consensus for that strategy will be required, as well as management of the execution of tactical work related to this strategy.
Work with the different groups such as infosec, legal, finance and governance to lead negotiations for master agreements and standard terms and conditions for common and/or critical contracting situations.
Provide regular intelligence to stakeholders regarding the Company’s evolving spend profile, savings results, and risk mitigation activities.
Leverage interactions with external marketplace to provide insights to internal business regarding pricing, vendor, and technology trends.
Must be able to actively research and pursue new and cutting-edge vendors, build relationships, and make contacts.
Develop and adapt procurement strategies based upon continuous monitoring and forecasting of impacting variable market conditions.
Manage multiple project initiatives at a time.
Responsible for timely execution of projects, coordinating efforts across all stakeholders
Lead RFP efforts and activities pre and post bid
Able to provide insightful and detailed proposal analysis, comparisons and solution recommendations with high attention to detail
Manage strategic vendor relationships
Maintain accurate data in contract databases and vendor records
Mentor and guide staff to ensure work performance is to Company standards.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

10+ years of strategic sourcing and supplier relations experience and 7+ years leading strategic sourcing and procurement operations teams.
Excellent category-specific sourcing and category management skills in a variety of spend areas, particularly Software.
Expert understanding of purchasing policies, procedures, practices, and the value and use of ERP systems.
Track record of year-over-year delivery of distinctive value from strategic supply chain activities.
Demonstrated excellence in managing internal customers; skilled at institutionalizing stakeholder communications for input and alignment; well-honed “radar” for stakeholder management.
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
Strong financial modeling and Excel skills
Excellent negotiation skills up to the executive level and understanding of contractual negotiation, development, and law.
A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others.
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience with ERP systems, spend analytics, eSourcing, and contract management systems required.
