Information Technology Specialist (Business Analyst)
This position is located in the District Department of Transportation, Office of Information Technology and Innovation (OITI). The incumbent for this position will deliver information technology (IT) systems and services, including planning, designing, testing, and implementing systems and processes in the IT realm.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Incumbent serves as a subject matter expert for analyzing and refining IT systems requirements, which includes:
Translating systems requirements into application prototypes; planning and designing systems architecture, assuring software and systems quality and functionality; writing, debugging, and maintaining code; and writing and maintaining program documentation.
Working in collaboration with DDOT Office Information Technology and Innovation (OITI) to ensure the seamless operation of information systems within the DDOT network infrastructure is adequate.
Interfacing with DDOT administrations for the purpose of satisfying the needs of the user groups. Works with process analysts and assists in developing internal and external workflow during development and maintenance of systems
Planning and migration of databases to new technologies, such as the migration from client-server to Web-enabled databases; and plans and oversees the installation or reinstallation process. Coordinates with specialists in other functional areas to resolve connectivity, compatibility, reliability, security and related issues.
Monitoring performance of the information systems environment. Tests and installs patches, upgrades, and system updates.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
3-5 years of experience in advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Project and Visio
Experience in SharePoint & Atlassian are highly desired
Bachelor’s degree in BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other technology required; Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other technology or experience equivalency preferred.
LICENSURE AND EDUCATION
Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
The work is performed in the normal office setting.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS
This position has been designated as an emergency employee position under the provisions of District Personnel Manual, Chapter 12. As such, your services may be required in emergency situations to perform crucial duties, i.e., snow removal, debris removal, transportation, shelter operation, food distribution, and communication. These duties may be performed when the government is closed or when most employees are dismissed early.
This position maybe subject to criminal background checks and/or driving record checks, as well as random drug and alcohol testing pursuant to DC Act 15-620.
