Omron Adept Technologies, Inc. is looking for a multi-disciplinary, energetic, and focused Applications Development Engineer for San Ramon office. This role will be responsible for providing technical support to OAT engineering team and Omron global robot support team. This role will also be a technical resource for other departments within the organization such as the Omron Adept marketing team, Omron global sales team, and the Omron Adept manufacturing team.
In this role, you will:
Develop high-quality robotic software design and architecture.
Develop the robotic application development for different industries.
Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code
Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
Review and debug code
Collaborate with internal teams and engineering to fix and improve products
Daily interface with:
Sales, Service, Marketing, Engineering, and our customers directly via phone, email, and onsite visit.
Aids in the design and development of equipment and systems, and redesign of existing systems to fulfill the needs of customers
Support the development of new products through design evaluation.
Relay industry and customer insight into use of robotic products within internal departments.
Consults with marketing and engineering to support deployed robotic fleets.
Ability to travel offsite to provide product support, training, and application development services.
Provide technical support to customers and other Omron business units as needed.
Responsible for consulting global robotics team on design, setup, and operation of demo units and trade show displays.
Relies on industry experience, judgment and creativity to plan and accomplish goals in uncertain environments.
Performs a variety of tasks involving the deployment of robots, support, and training.
Represent Omron in a professional, ethical, and socially responsible manner.
Represents the Omron Guiding Principles through personal and business interactions with employees, customers, distributors, and colleagues.
- A minimum of a Bachelors Degree with 8 to 10 years experience
- Masters Degree with 6 to 8 years fixed robot or industry related experience
- Experience writing robotic application software for at least 6 years.
Experience working in technical customer support.
Programming experience in a compiled language and a scripting language. Example C, C++, C#, Python
Understanding of core robotics techniques in either or both disciplines of fixed or mobile robotics.
Experience with Hand Tools
Strong debugging and creativity skills
Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and/or internationally
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
MS Office skills ( MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
'Can do' attitude to work within cross-functional teams
Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments.
Identifies opportunities for innovation and offers new ideas.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required.
Experience with Microsoft Project is preferred.
