JOB SUMMARY
The Equipment Operator operates machinery used to load and unload material from trailers. This position secures loads, ensures equipment is in good working condition, directs vehicles to the designated dumping areas and provides updated trailer counts throughout the shift.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Ensure trailers are properly loaded and unloaded.

Tarp trailers, secure loads and complete trailer paperwork.

Ensure proper maintenance of equipment.

Direct all city vehicles to a designated dumping area.

Keep an updated trailer count throughout the shift and report to Lead Operator.

May be required to drive a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) not to exceed 10,000 pounds.

Maintain a clean work area.

Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

One year of related medium or heavy equipment experience or completion of specialized training

Available to work scheduled shifts, including nights, holidays and weekends

Must demonstrate excellent operating skills for large, heavy equipment

Ability to read and interpret documents such as vehicle condition reports (VCRs), accident reports, safety policies and procedures, operating instructions, procedure manuals and other operations-related paperwork

Basic math skills

Ability to follow instructions

Ability to communicate fluently in English
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or its equivalent.
REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

Valid Class C driver’s license

Safe driving for the past three years
