Working in collaboration with the Director of Advancement Communications, this position will play a key role in the overall engagement and fundraising efforts for Elon University. The Coordinator of Advancement Communications will assist in producing high-quality communications that engage and inspire Elon’s constituents and will be skilled at bringing communication projects from initial concept to final product.

Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Extensive experience with PCs. Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office software, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with basic HTML, Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge software is very desirable.

General Purpose of Position
Working in collaboration with the Director of Advancement Communications, this position will play a key role in the overall engagement and fundraising efforts for Elon University. The Coordinator of Advancement Communications will assist in producing high-quality communications that engage and inspire Elon’s constituents and will be skilled at bringing communication projects from initial concept to final product. The Coordinator must be highly organized and efficient with the ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities; demonstrate good judgment and attention to detail; show strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; and possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This is a dynamic position that will work closely with other departments within University Advancement and across campus to meet communications needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carefully prepare, write, review and edit various communications—interviewing subjects, capturing stories, disseminating information, posting stories, managing quality assurance, etc.
  • Produce, coordinate and send mass emails from University Advancement departments and campus partners using Blackbaud NetCommunity.
  • Assist with the management of the Advancement Communications editorial calendar that schedules a range of communications for the division.
  • Manage, grow and enhance the Elon Alumni Social Media Ambassadors Program.
  • Plan and implement Elon’s day of giving communications strategy in collaboration with the Director of Advancement Communications.
  • Coordinate regular review and updates to the University Advancement websites in collaboration with University Communications.
  • Train and assist staff on use of Blackbaud NetCommunity and other communications platforms.
  • Utilize creative applications (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign etc.) to produce communications materials.
  • Assist in the coordination of mass mailings with key partners on and off campus (University Communications, mail houses, printers, etc.).
  • Become proficient in compiling and reviewing constituency lists as directed by the Director of Advancement Communications. This will require an understanding of database logic, spreadsheets and use of Raiser’s Edge and Blackbaud Net Community.
  • Deal with sensitive information and respect high level of confidentiality.
  • Proof briefing materials prepared for the President’s office for approval by the Associate Vice President prior to VP review.
  • Manage procurement card expenses and reallocations for Advancement Communications.
  • Support the Director of Advancement Communications with special projects and other duties as assigned.
