The Academy for Global Citizenship seeks an exemplary bilingual elementary school teacher to serve as an in-house substitute teacher for Dual Language as well as monolingual classrooms in our International Baccalaureate school. Candidates must be comfortable teaching in both English and Spanish.
This position is ideal for a passionate and skilled educator seeking to gain experience across grades and subjects in grades K-8.

Key Responsibilities:
Substitute Teaching: Our full-time, in-house substitute will work a regular schedule, teaching in different classrooms for long and short-term substitute roles and supporting additional educational needs as-needed.
Teaching: Uses appropriate modes of learning to accommodate different learning styles across grade levels: inquiry, project-based learning, real-life experiences, current events, technology, arts, and more
Instructional Strategies: Uses many types of instructional strategies including teaching through inquiry, differentiating instruction, and using data to guide planning and instruction
Professional Development: Participates in professional learning opportunities, stays abreast of latest techniques and demonstrates an eagerness to learn new skills and learn collaboratively with others

Required Skills and Experience:
2+ years experience as an educator
Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish
Familiarity with IB program (ideal)
Familiarity with inquiry-based teaching and Responsive Classroom
Believer in culturally relevant teaching
Strong communication skills and personal drive
Education Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Education
Master’s Degree in Education or related fields (ideal)
State of Illinois Teaching Certificate
ELL Endorsement (ideal)
