The Database Administrator will work in support of criminal and counter-intelligence investigations for Federal Law Enforcement.
Planning, coordinating and administering computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long and short-range requirements, operational guidelines, protection and logical-physical database design.
Perform database capacity planning related to database growth and system utilization, trend analysis and predicting future database resource requirements; formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
Performance monitoring, database tuning, identification and correction of performance bottlenecks.
Responsible for overall database reliability and availability including database architectures, upgrades, performance, and tools and software installation and maintenance and installation of application software relevant to database repositories.
BS degree, with eight (08) years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Shall have six (06) years of experience in the following:
Working with medium to large databases (Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g and/or 12c) in a UNIX, Linux and/or Windows environment.
Installation, configuration, and administration of Oracle Supercluster.
Working with database tuning and maintenance, experience in data modeling and database development and experience with UNIX Shell scripting when required.
Oracle HA configurations including Real Application Clusers (RAC), Veritas and Data Guard.
Experience in Oracle Solaris 10/11 System Administration with specific experience in maintaining, monitoring and turning Oracle engineered systems.
Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) backup and recovery procedures.
Maintenance and administration of ZFS storage device.
OEM Grid Control to perform enterprise level monitoring and administration procedures.
Installing, configuring, administering, and using current & emerging database tools, strategies, & technologies
Shall have experience with the following Oracle Database specific tasks:
Administer Oracle Databases hosted on Oracle Supercluster.
Perform ongoing assessment of database performance and identification of problem areas using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Toad, and or SQL code and scripts.
Perform and execute database backup and recovery procedures using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Veritas NetBackup.
Perform Oracle installations, upgrades, administer CPU/PSU patching and other administrative core DBA functions.
Ability to collaborate with software engineers, security administration, Computer Operations, Network Management, and System Administrators to ensure quality and integrity of databases, application software and data.
- This position requires the candidate to have a current Top Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain a polygraph. Candidate must possess SCI eligibility.
