Help investigate housing discrimination and get paid for it! Get paid to get trained! Remote OK within the state of California only.
Fair Housing of Northern California (FHANC) is a non-profit agency dedicated to promoting equal housing opportunities in Marin, Sonoma, and Solano counties. This is on-call, as-needed work. It is not full-time or regular part-time employment.
FHANC is looking for fair housing testers! No experience required. Testers pose as interested renters, homeowners seeking an appraisal, or loan applicants. After conducting the test, they report their experiences orally and in writing. FHANC compares testers’ reports to determine if there is evidence of discrimination. Testers are paid $60-$150 for site visits and $30-$75 for phone tests (mileage, tolls, and fees are reimbursed).
Testers must have good observational skills, be able to memorize details of their profile, and have computer and printer access.
We strongly encourage applications from people of color, people with disabilities, people who receive government subsidies, LGBTQ people, and other people who are members of federal and state protected classes. We believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do.
