Position Summary :
As a Transportation Manager, you will direct the work activities of the transportation department – delivering groceries, non-edible merchandise and perishables to approximately 100 banner and non-banner customers. In doing so, you will ensure maximum usage of personnel and facilities. It is your responsibility to integrate safety, customer service, Team Member development and fiscal strategies into your daily work.

Experience Required: 3 to 5 years
Experience Desired: 5 to 8 years of management experience in a logistics and/or distribution center, unionized environment.
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent plus 18 months to 3 years of additional training
Travel Required: Regional - Daily, Less than 10%
Responsible for leading a team of eight to ten supervisors and over 150 drivers.
Meet the needs of internal and external customers by ensuring product accuracy and on-time deliveries.
Manage KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement related to cubing, on-time delivery, wage expense and empty miles.
Collaborate on the development, implementation and evaluation of our long-term and short-term business strategies to improve sales, reduce costs and make our Company a better place to work.
Assist in developing a plan of action to meet and ensure our fiscal plan efficiently and accurately meets customer requirements while still lowering operating expenses and maximizing profits.
Develop and implement routing and cubing strategies to optimize tractor and trailer equipment usage, meeting distribution center and customer needs.
Ensure labor standards are accurate and reasonable, developing efficient trip miles while supporting driver safety.
Manage communication between shifts, departments and divisions to meet customer needs.
Maintain tracking and reporting systems to provide accurate data analysis and accountability for departmental forecasting, strategies and production activities.
Ensure compliance with regulatory demands with local, state and federal departments of transportation. That involves training Team Members on proper procedures and policies, overseeing administration of required tests and maintaining documentation.
Provide leadership and communication that ensures the success of ongoing safety practices and with the ultimate goal of a zero-incident culture.
Develop policies, procedures and processes which promote a clean and safe work environment to minimize the risk of accidents.
Proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions and work processes while influencing behaviors throughout the supply chain to drive a zero-incident culture.
Utilize onboard tractor camera system to promote good driving habits or administer discipline accordingly.
Interpret and administer labor agreements to meet the company’s and customer’s needs while maintaining positive management/labor relations.
Support Team Member development by providing direct reports with information on changing work rules and compliance issues, creating opportunities to lead projects that enhance our business and promote a respectful team environment.
Provide open and honest feedback to all Team Members in a professional and timely manner.
Ensure compliance in driver training and onboarding.
