This position is to provide financial services to support the goals and objectives of the Commercial Organization of Southern Company Gas through financial planning and analysis. The focus is on value creation by engaging in analysis, identification of issues, support of the Financial Plan and implementation of strategy with timely and accurate management reporting.

Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities by Competency

Functional Expertise :
Prepares commercial business financial plan and annual budget for wholesale and midstream
Assess financial performance against target, including risks and opportunities to the annual and five-year plan
Performs monthly plan updates and forecast revisions
Prepares complex ad hoc analysis for projects, the annual goodwill impairment test, and fixed asset impairment tests
Develop and execute strategies to meet the company’s overall financial objective
Coordinates preparation of Board presentations and CEO review materials

Analyzes financial and non-financial data to help drive business decisions
Articulates results, variances and key drivers effectively
Develops recommendations and alternatives to meet objectives
Demonstrates knowledge of the business and industry in analyses

Fosters relationships with managers, peers, customers and is a team player
Communicates effectively with all levels of business
Influences business decisions by sharing analyses and expertise

Monitors results versus plan and works with business leaders to achieve desired results
Identifies process and/or profit improvements

Education, Certifications/Licenses:
Required :
BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or other requiring application of analytical techniques

Preferred :
Energy company experience

Related Work Experience:
7 years of experience in financial planning, financial analysis, regulatory planning, and/or accounting or related fields
Experience working with senior executives individual and team basis
Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Specific Skills & Knowledge:
Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities
Ability to work independently yet keep management informed as appropriate
Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
Understanding of ERP/Financial systems and databases

Preferred :
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP)
