VP Business Development

JLT Specialty Insurance Services, Inc. - Chicago, IL


JLT is looking to expand its U.S. risk platform in Chicago and is seeking experienced business development professionals ("Producers") to develop new business opportunities for its specialized risk segments. The candidate will have a strong focus on business development in securing new business and will have an existing center of influence network that will assist the candidate in building a new business pipeline. JLT’s producers emphasize relationship selling in conjunction with a strong foundation in risk identification and product/industry knowledge.

Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for bringing new business to JLT, focused on specialty insurance products and industries
  • Identifies, develops and cultivates prospects for JLT’s industry and product solutions and positions JLT to be the broker of choice.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects and colleagues
  • Together with other JLT subject matter experts, uncovers and identifies viable prospects and relevant centers of influence, leveraging JLT’s market leading investment in product and industry experts
  • Develops client/prospect plans/strategies and drives execution of plan
  • Presents JLT capabilities, identifies prospect needs and risk profile and matches JLT solutions to solve client and prospect issues
  • Leads cooperative and collaborative effort among JLT deal team membersto deliver results for clients and prospects
  • Lead JLT deal team by assisting with setting strategy, goals and managing performance


Experience and Education Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of selling experience in the financial services industry
  • Strong demonstrated interpersonal skills and business track-record
  • Ability to deal with complex client situations
  • Effective people and project management skills
  • College degree
  • Intellectual curiosity to understand business problems and match risk solutions to solve those business problems
  • Results driven with an emphasis on pipeline development
  • Strong relationship builder with prospects and centers of influence
  • Strong presentation skills, both oral and written
