Job Description Outline for a Director of Marketing & Creative:

Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, is a leading distributor of independent cinema. Founded in 2006, Gravitas connects independent filmmakers, producers and distribution companies with leading distribution partners across the globe. Working with more than 500 content partners, Gravitas Ventures has distributed thousands of films across all digital and traditional platforms. This position provides an opportunity to learn and grow with a fast-moving distribution film company and be a part of the strategy and execution of our forthcoming direct-to-consumer Subscription service.

We are looking for a Director of Marketing, Direct to Consumer Subscription Acquisition and Retention. This candidate will have experience developing and executing consumer acquisition and retention campaigns for a subscription service.


Customer Acquisition and Retention:

  • Oversee the direction and development of the consumer marketing strategy, consumer messaging and corresponding creative for the Gravitas Ventures Movies SVOD streaming service to successfully grow awareness, trial, and conversion of new subscribers across traditional and digital channels
  • Develop and execute cost-effective, targeted subscriber acquisition campaigns
  • Responsible for making advertising placement/buys as appropriate/requested, including on all major social media platforms
  • Establish and optimize customer relationship management (CRM) programs, develop a marketing automation strategy for retention, renewal, and win-back using tactics including email marketing, mobile push and in-app messaging
  • Perform A/B testing to optimize campaigns and inform strategy based on data-driven insights to deliver maximum ROI; play a lead role in designing data reports that track key business metrics
  • Analyze marketing trends and patterns to strategically assess competitive landscape, acquisition opportunities, and current customer impact
  • Support internal teams in modeling customer subscription forecasting and long-term growth strategies


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Membership/subscription or other continuity marketing experience a must; 2 to 4 years retention/customer management with a video or online subscription business preferred
  • Strong knowledge of direct marketing principles and practices a must
  • Experience with executing cost-effective advertising spend
  • Proven track record of managing loyalty and rewards programs
  • Experience with results-driven targeted email marketing
  • Strong analytical capability
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to multitask and work well within a fast paced, tight deadline environment
  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills including excellent business writing and presentation skills
